Berkeley Hall’s 30-acre Golf Learning Center and Practice Facility has been lauded as the finest private instructional complex in the country. Years of planning and research have resulted in a year-round center where members can make minor adjustments or major changed to their games.

Indoor, climate controlled hitting bays feature state-or-the-art computer and digital video technology for all levels of game environment. The Center also offers professional club fitting and repair room as well as an extensive golf video and book library.
Seven acres are devoted to the short game, where shot-making skills can be honed in a variety of green settings, bunkers, and putting surfaces – all designed to replicate actual playing conditions on the Berkeley Hall courses.

And it’s all overseen by Director of Instruction Andrew Rice, a former associate of legendary teacher David Leadbetter, and a staff of attentive and personable PGA Class A teaching professionals.

As several visiting Touring Pros – including Billy Andrade – have attested, there are no other private club facilities that compare to the Berkeley Hall Learning Center.

“If you’re working on your game, this is the Mecca. It’s a phenomenal facility. The size, the attention to detail – it’s truly the best I’ve ever seen.” Billy Andrade, PGA Tour Professional On Berkeley Hall’s learning Center

Andrew Rice – Director of Instruction

A native of Pretoria, South Africa, Andrew spent his teen years playing the junior circuit with Ernie Els and 2001 U.S. Open Champion Retief Goosen, among others. After a brief time on the South African Tour and U.S. mini- tours, Rice turned his attention toward a career in golf instruction.

Prior to joining Berkeley Hall, Rice was a senior instructor with David Ledbetter at his academy in Bradenton, Florida. His upbeat personality and passion for the game has made him one of the most popular members of the Berkeley Hall golf staff. Rice is available to Members and their guests for individual, group, or family instruction.

Krista Dunton – Instructor

We are excited to announce that Krista Dunton will be joining Andrew Rice as a member of our teaching staff on October 1. Krista joins us from Belfair where she has been their Director of Instruction for the past several years.

Last year, Krista was selected by the PGA Carolinas Section, as their 2006 Teacher of the Year from over 2000 PGA teaching professionals. This award recognizes the golf professional for excelling in their field, while demonstrating a strong dedication and commitment to the game. She has been ranked in the list of Top 50 Teachers in the Northeast and Southeast by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest in 2001, 2003, and 2005. Golf for Women Magazine has also named her one of their Top 50 Teachers in the United States for each of the past six years. In addition to promoting the game through her instruction to both adults and juniors, she has donated her time at fund raisers held by the South Carolina Big Brother/Big Sister, Volunteers in Medicine, Special Olympics, Rally for a Cure, and many other charity events to help raise money for breast cancer research.

Krista will be working with Andrew Rice, Director of Instruction, who had spent six years assisting David Leadbetter at his golf school in Florida before coming to Berkeley Hall. They will be working with other members of our staff to expand our instructional programs to our members. With the addition of Krista to our golf staff, Berkeley Hall continues to develop its reputation as having one of the finest practice facilities and staff of teaching professionals in the world. We hope you will welcome Krista to the Club and make good use her teaching abilities.
